install avertv hybrid volar MAX

install avertv hybrid volar MAX

I don't know how to get avermedia hybrid volar MAX working on opensuse 12.1. Opensuse sees the hardware but I cant get it running in any software, I installed the the linux software from avermedia's website for the product but the volar max does not recognize my kernel, my kernel is 3.3. volar is looking for a 2.6 kernel . it ends installation saying cant find kernel 2.6.

here is info from another driver i tried to install

Code:

linux-fjj3:/home/suse1/Desktop/H830_LinuxDrv_x64_V1.0.28-beta_OEM #  sudo ./H830_LinuxDrv_x64_V1.0.28-beta_Install_OEM.sh

detailed working of perror

detailed working of perror

can anyone please help me out to find out how perror actually works???
In my client.c program i am receiving one error
send: Bad file decriptor
this is printed by perror
as the errno variable is set to 9 which is EBADF
but i want to know from which file does perror seeks or maps this error??
Or more properly how does the kernel maintains the error logs from where the perror prints the latest error.
Please do reply as soon as possible.

Hello Again Linux World!

Hello Again Linux World!

Been pretty busy the past few months and haven't been that active in the forums.

Anyways, for all those who celebrate Christmas, have a truly meaningful one. For those who do not, enjoy the season.

And may we all have a better year ahead of us.

Regards to all,

Active Directory Authentication for samba share.

Active Directory Authentication for samba share.

Hi Friends,

I'm supporting one of our customers who is using centrifydc samba with AD. Issue is that we are not able to access samba share from our windows machine. I tried using smbclient with AD username and it gives following error message:

check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [xxx] -> [xxx] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER

However user do exist in AD and winbind gives the correct SID and info:

wbinfo -a DOMAIN\\xxx%password
plaintext password authentication succeeded
challenge/response password authentication succeeded

wbinfo -n DOMAIN\\xxx
S-1-5-21-141307505-1238419977-2639880222-26449 SID_USER (1)

getent doesn't list the AD accounts. Please help.

KDE4.x or Gome 3.x

KDE4.x or Gome 3.x

I have only tried gnome 2.x and KDE 4.7 and I like them both. I love how sexy KDE looks but gnome seemed like more of a familiar desktop, which made it easier. What do you guys think I should stick too, I herd that KDE is more like windows which makes it more dumbed down or something. But to be honest I don't agree. As a matter of fact I have had more of a windows like experience with gnome in Linux mint 11 than I have had in open-SUSE 12.1 KDE. I found mint easier and more user friendly while I found KDE(SUSE) More cool, way more cool!, but harder to navigate. I want to hear what you guys have to say in general about these desktops since I am still very new to Linux.
