Stuttering performence raid

Stuttering performence raid

Hi out there, Im kinda n00b on this. But in my machine running ClearOS, I have a sata-card, and set it up as raid, raid 1 I think. So 2 x 1TB hdd's seems like 1 x 1TB but redudant to hw-failure.

But now to the problem, in linux I wasnt found the hdds as raid. So I googled and found to use mdadm to make a raid. And then I can see the raid when 'cat /proc/mdstat', output:
Code:

[yabbah ~]# cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [raid1]
md0 : active raid1 sdh1[1] sdg1[0]
      976759936 blocks [2/2] [UU]

unused devices: <none>

On that device I have all my ripped dvd's to the kids. But when they watch them the movies (doenst matter what movie the choise) start buffering after 4 minutes, and then it stops playing completely. This start to drive me nuts.

I tried copy a iso-file from that device over my network to my computer, I saw that after about 1gb copied, it paus the copy for about 20seconds. Same after 2,3, and 4 gb. So something is completely wrong.

How can I solve this without loosing the data?

Kind regards and marry christmas

A Little help for Shell Script

A Little help for Shell Script

CME 1003 Shell Script Assignment
Project Specification
A shell script is a script written for the shell, or command line interpreter, of an operating system. Typical operations performed by shell scripts include file manipulation, program execution, printing text etc.
Shell : In computing, a shell is a piece of software that provides an interface for users. In this project, you should prepare a Linux shell script which performs following operations:
Your script will ask user 4 options : Create, Move, Delete, Copy. The option will be applied to
Directories and/or Files which contain given name.
Examples:
Create : Reads a directory name and number from user and creates directories.
Example : directory name = student
number = 13
student1, student2, student3... student13 directories will be created by this option.
While creating each folder, script will ask user directory permissions. (permissions could
be given by number values like; 775 for rwxrwxr-x)
( NOTE: If directories exist, inform user!)
Move : Name and new location is taken from user.
Copy : Name and new location is taken from user.
Delete : Name is taken from user.
NOTE : Each operation will be logged in log.txt such as:
Example : Directory documentation_13.11.2007 is moved to upper directory
All of these options will be listed as a menu for user. At the end of each operation menu should
be shown unless user selects Exit option. The shell script should display appropriate messages
such as warning, information.
Example : If given filename does not exist, warn user.
NOTE : The wildcards should be accepted by your shell script as user input !

Howto Xserver dual screen setup with LCD TV?

Howto Xserver dual screen setup with LCD TV?

Hello, I'm trying to configure dual screen on my slitaz linux. I have connected s-video port on graphic card (old Nvidia Geforce MX440) with AV connector (yellow cinch) on LCD TV (32" LG32LD350). I want to have cloned screen on both, pc monitor and tv. How can I achieve this?

What I tried till now:
If I try to turn on twinview in nvidia-settings, the image on TV is cloned, but image on TV is grayscale and is flickering - I didn't find any option to increase TV frequency, colors are set to 32Milion. I tried it two days ago and somehow the image was color, I don't know how to set it up again :(. So I'm sure, the cable is OK.
I got same results, when I tried to set xorg.conf in either twinview or separate screen - screen is grayscale and flickering.

I tried to change almost avery option in config file without desired result, so I would be thankfull in any ideas.

This is my xorg. conf:

Nvidia Driver Settings: Extended Display Help

Nvidia Driver Settings: Extended Display Help

Hey,
I recently bought a new Graphics Card (Nvidia GTX 570) replacing my Radeon HD 6850. However i'm having problems getting the display settings to work how i would like.

Previously i had an extended display over 2 monitors, with the main desktop (i.e. Panels on 1 screen) and the other monitor blank except for the desktop background.

I've installed latest driver (from Nvidia) and it all works fine. I configure the nvidia driver to have monitor 0 as 1920X1080 and monitor 1 as 1650x1024, right of monitor 0.

If using separate X screens i get the two screens like intended, but both monitors have the panels like a main display, but no compiz. If i enable twinview i get dual screen with compiz but again both monitors are treated as the main display (i.e. panels appear on both). If Xinerama is enabled on either of the above, i 1 big screen like i want with the panels on the main display but no compiz or desktop switcher. All settings also only give one mouse for both monitors.

Some help would be great, Xorg.config can be given if necessary.

dhcpd6 do not reply the query

dhcpd6 do not reply the query

Hi All,

I'm trying to setup a dhcpv6 server in my office with CentOS 6.1 + dhcpd6, below was the dhcpd6.conf file.

Code:

default-lease-time 600;
max-lease-time 7200;
log-facility local7;

authoritative;

subnet6 2222:1111:107a:7::/64 {
        range6 2222:1111:107a:7::500 2222:1111:107a:7::1000;
}

allow leasequery;

after i'm start the dhcpd6 service with the command:

Code:

/usr/sbin/dhcpd -6 -f -cf /etc/dhcp/dhcpd6.conf eth2
The service are successfully start with the info that show as below:

Code:

Sending on  Socket/5/eth2/2222:1111:107a:7::/64

I'm trying to use a Win 7 machine and another CentOS 6.1 machine to get IPv6 address from the DHCPv6 server that I've setup but it fail to get any IPv6 address. By using wireshark to capture the packet, I only see the client try to send a DHCPv6 Solicitation to all DHCPv6 multicast group but DHCPv6 server never reply to the solicitation, anyone encounter similar issues? I've disabling the ip6tables to ensure is not firewall issues. Hope you guys can advise.

Cheers,

Tightvnc/RDC on Mint 12

Tightvnc/RDC on Mint 12

I installed Tightvnc, and in Synaptic it shows to be installed, but I can't figure out how to run it. I can't locate it anywhere under Menu > Applications area.

Secondly I installed Vinagre, and now show the Remote Desktop Viewer under Applications > Internet, but there is no options to configure as a host.

I was able to run Tightvnc on my Win7 machine, and control from the Mint's RDC viewer, however I am trying to get it the other way around where Mint is host, controlled from Win7.

Thanks for any help...
