RHEL 4 unbootable after unclean shut down
Hi, I'm a newbie here and technically not very expert on Linux. I'm currently running into a problem with our enterprise linux. We shut our servers down to do maintenance and the system is not booting normally. See details below: OS: Oracle Enterprise Linux Release 4 Kernel 2.6.9-67.0.0.0.1 ELsmp on x86_64 Red Hat nash version 4.2.1.13 File system type: ext2fs Partition type: 0x83 Error messages upon automatic startup: (screen gives out several messages very fast therefore i can only give some of it here..) .... usb 2-3.1.2: new high speed USB device using address 40 hub 2-3.1.2.1.0: USB hub found hub 2-3.1.2.1.0: 4 ports detected usb 2-3.1.2.3: new high speed USB device using address 41 scsci3: SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices .. sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 24x/24x writer dvd-ram cd/rw xa/form32 cdda tray input: USB HID v1.11 Device (OEM Mass Storage Plus) on usb-0000:00:1d.7-3.1.2.3 usb4-2: new full speed USB device using address 27 .. On startup, we saw that the system was uncleanly shut down and several services cannot be found or have a failed status. We cannot pinpoint which component is causing the problem (hardware, Linux and its services, etc..) We need to get the systems running by the end of the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
