RHEL 4 unbootable after unclean shut down

Hi, I'm a newbie here and technically not very expert on Linux. I'm currently running into a problem with our enterprise linux. We shut our servers down to do maintenance and the system is not booting normally. On startup, we saw that the system was uncleanly shut down and several services cannot be found or have a failed status. We cannot pinpoint which component is causing the problem (hardware, Linux and its services, etc..) We need to get the systems running by the end of the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
