As you can see, I have two monitors connected to one card.

What I want is one monitor connected to each card.

Can anyone help?

NOTE TO MODS

Your filtering assumes that the (at) symbol can and will only be used to post email addresses and prevents me from using it.

I have had to search and replace the (at) symbol in the above post and replace it with the letters "(at)"

Sorry if this section doesn't make a great deal of sense by the forum prevents me from posting what I actually a) need to b) mean.

Resize losetup/cryptsetup container file

Resize losetup/cryptsetup container file

Bash script help

Bash script help

I have a bash script that looks like this

bash ./start.sh > ../logs/stdout.log 2> ../logs/stderr.log &
STARTED=$!
echo "$STARTED" >> ../run.pid
wait $STARTED

What does the "&" after ../logs/stderr.log do?
Also, why do I need to put "bash" infront of "./start.sh"

Thanks!

understanding users - http, ssh, rsync

understanding users - http, ssh, rsync

Hey everyone.

I'm running into an issue where I've got rsync doing it's thing through ssh authenticating as user2. I tested this all out in a small subdirectory with no issues - just had to chown the folder and contents to user2.

Now I am trying to backup the whole server but hitting an issue that I need help understanding and possibly a solution. The majority of the files in my public_html are set to user1 (really tied to the cpanel/ftp account). When I try to switch to user2 - the server goes down through http - 500 error. When I chown everything back to user1 it works as it did beforehand.

I need to change the owner of the files to user2 and have everything function as it should over http, is there a setting/config for this somewhere? Please advise.

Thanks!
Troy

Linux Advent calendar

Linux Advent calendar

Hi there,

if you don't have enough reading matter for the holidays, you might be interested in a Linux Advent calendar.
After last year's calendar on www.refining-linux.org was very successful I thought it would be nice to have one this year again. So sorry for the self-promotion, but I just wanted to let you know. :-)

This year's topic is "24 Outstanding ZSH Gems". Until the 24th of December an article will be published every day each explaining one handy feature of the Z Shell and why you should be using this shell (though some features also work similarly in other shells such as Bash) ;-).

The first article has been released today.

Trying to {sudo yum install nodejs}

Trying to {sudo yum install nodejs}

Hi All, I'm trying to instal Node.js on Centos5 but I know nothing about installing things on Linux.
I've tried lots of different things and I'm just in a mess.
I've got a nodejs-stable.repo in a folder located here...
/etc/yum.repos.d
I also downloaded a tar thingy and put it some where and then I'm told to run this...
sudo yum install nodejs
This is the output...

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get Node.js installed on the server please?
Thanks

Securely Share Data on Dual Boot Machine

Securely Share Data on Dual Boot Machine

Hi All,

What's the easiest way for me to share my data across users on two different linux distros. I'm dual booting Ubuntu and Badhi, both are linked to the same partition /home but different user names. What is the easiest way to share (read and write access) for stuff from my Ubuntu user to my Badhi user. Thanks in advance
