greb problem

i have a slight problem, i cant use no other app than greb to extract data from logfiles, as i have to commune with server thru ssh client, due to that fact i cant install anything "tailor made". now using greb i just enter xxx as searched code plus path and log is being extracted to separate file i indicate, my problem is that greb extracts only single line, untill i manually switch it to running X lines, now i wonder is it possible to use greb to extract data from marker xxxxx (say action id) to </logger> which ends given command line regardless of line of texts it uses a) im using ubuntu 11.04 server if it makes any diff.. b) logs are between 30megs and 2 gigs so copying them is most of time unfeasible
