make debian with xfce use intel graphics driver

Hi, I have a "Intel N10 Integrated Graphics Controller", which I believe uses an i8* or i9* chipset. I run Xfce and have no Xorg.conf file, supposedly it should detect my driver at startup? I think it falls back on the vesa driver, and it seems horrbily slow. Is there a way to force it to use a specific driver?
